Avalanche Activity

High avalanche danger will persist.

The avalanche prone locations are numerous. As a consequence of new snow and wind, deep wind slabs formed. Natural avalanches are further possible. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation they can in isolated cases reach very large size and in some places endanger transportation routes situated at relatively high altitudes. Without question, it is inadvisable to engage in backcountry touring.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow and wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack in all aspects. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The weather conditions will give rise to moistening of the snowpack.

Tendency

The wind will be moderate to strong. Continuous warming to 2600 m. We recommend that you consult the most recent avalanche bulletin.
