Forecast Snow Stability: Overnight, wet snow instabilities will affect the recently deposited windslab accumulations which are mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres and are generally localised. As the freezing level lowers the surface of the snowpack will start to refreeze and stabilise. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be strong South-Westerly this evening, then strengthen and veer West-North-Westerly during the early morning. Overnight, light precipitation will initially fall as snow above around 1000 metres turning to rain at all levels as the freezing level rises above all summits. During the early hours the freezing level will lower, to around 1100 metres by dawn and 800 metres by the end of the day. The day will be dry Observed Weather Influences: After a little overnight snowfall above around 300 metres the day was dry. Winds were mainly West-North-Westerly, strong and gusty during the morning then decreasing to moderate. The freezing level was around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh moderately bonded windslab has been deposited in sheltered areas, mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Accumulations are generally localised, and mainly found at the tops of gullies and around coire rims. The old snowpack is firm and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
