The fresh snow and in particular the sometimes deep wind slabs represent the main danger.
The sometimes large wind slabs of the last few days are poorly bonded with the old snowpack. The wind slabs are lying on unfavourable layers in all aspects. As a consequence of the occasionally moderate wind, the snow drift accumulations will increase in size in the course of the day. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack especially on north, northeast and northwest facing slopes.

The fresh snow and in particular the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects and above the tree line. This applies in particular on wind-loaded slopes. Slab avalanches and dry slab avalanches are the main danger. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular at elevated altitudes. Especially on steep north, northeast and northwest facing slopes the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach large size in some cases. As a consequence of warming small to medium-sized natural avalanches are possible below approximately 2300 m. Above approximately 2300 m small to medium-sized natural avalanches are possible. This applies in particular on steep south, southeast and southwest facing slopes, as well as on steep sunny slopes.
