Avalanche Activity

Moist slab avalanches are still possible.

In particular above approximately 2100 m more small and medium-sized moist slab avalanches are possible as the penetration by moisture increases. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on steep slopes. Avalanches can be released by a single winter sport participant. As the temperature drops there will be a gradual decrease in the danger of moist and wet avalanches during the course of the night. Avalanches can to some extent be released in the weakly bonded old snow, mostly by large additional loads. The avalanche prone locations are rare but are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow of Monday is poorly bonded in all aspects below approximately 2600 m. In many cases new snow is lying on a hard crust. Since Monday on steep slopes small and medium-sized avalanches were reported. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack on shady slopes. In all regions in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
