The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. Surface slabs that vary in hardness formed during recent snow and wind lie in the backcountry to depths of two feet. These slabs lie upon crusts and faceted snow and could be triggered in pockets on steep avalanche terrain by snowmobilers and skiers. These slabs will become more sensitive in the afternoon when warming and sun soften the snow surface. Weak layers deep in the snowpack persist in this region and although unlikely the potential continues to trigger larger avalanche events in extremely steep terrain.
