Avalanche Summary

Conditions are dangerous, with a complex mix of wet and dry snow avalanches. We have seen several warming-triggered, yet dry, avalanches on upper elevation northeast-facing slopes. These avalanches, breaking on deep weak layers, are the most dangerous. Avoiding steep, rocky, north-facing terrain during this warm-up is a good idea.

On all but the highest northwest through northeast-facing slopes, the snowpack is becoming very wet. Large wet avalanches are likely in the afternoon hours, breaking as wide slabs or gouging point releases. The safe-travel window on sunny slopes is very small. and becoming non-existent as the heat continues. Get out of your skis or off your snowmobile, and make sure you don't punch into wet snow.
