Kernpunkte

Spring has sprung with warm temps overnight and into today.  Hazard rating is low for all elevations on Douglas as what snow is left is settling and melting away.  Overnight temps did not dip below freezing so the snowpack probably did not lock up like it has been recently and conditions for skiing/riding should be a slushy corn mix. There is no new snow available for transport so even with moderate to strong SE winds expected wind loading should not be an issue. We could see some wet loose activity as the day progresses but is not expected to be much of a problem.

Avalanche Discussion

Warm temperatures, moderate precipitation, and moderate to strong winds are in store for the mountains of Douglas today.  Small Wet Loose avalanches are possible as liquid water creeps into the snowpack and breaks down bonds between snow grains. Snow line for today will likely remain well above ridgetops so rain and Wet Loose issues will likely persist through the weekend. Riders should expect Wet Loose hazard to increase as more liquid water gets added to the snowpack.
