The large quantity of fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released easily or naturally.

Over a wide area over a wide area 60 to 80 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 1800 m. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind, large wind slabs formed in the last two days in particular in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain as well as at intermediate and high altitudes. The new snow is lying on a crust on sunny slopes. This snow is lying on soft layers on shady slopes and at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The old snowpack is largely stable. The snowpack will become moist at low and intermediate altitudes.

As a consequence of a strong westerly wind, avalanche prone wind slabs formed in particular at high altitude. Wind slabs can in many places be released, even by a single winter sport participant and reach large size. The new snow of the last three days is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible over a wide area. Increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches until the temperature drops. The current avalanche situation calls for great caution and restraint.
