Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger. The wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases in all aspects.

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate wind from northerly directions, wind slabs will form adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls as well as above the tree line. On steep slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized dry slab avalanches are possible as a consequence of new snow and wind.

Snowpack Structure

The wind slabs represent the main danger. Adjacent to ridgelines visible wind slabs formed. Weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas.
