At the mid and upper elevations, backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of soft slab up to two feet in depth in steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain. The snowpack is mostly stable at the lower elevations and avalanches unlikely.

Expect light snowfall to develop Monday morning and continue through the day with one to three inches of new snow accumulating by the evening. Overnight lows in the mountains will be near 20 degrees before rising into the upper 20s during the day. Ridgetop winds will be out of the south to southwest at 5 to 15 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE above an elevation of 8,000 feet on Sunday. There, backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of soft slab up to 18 inches deep in very steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain. The potential persists, particularly in the Southwest Trails and Togwotee Pass areas, for snowmobiles or other large loads to trigger hard slabs up to four feet deep running on or below the strong early season crust.
