You can easily trigger a large and dangerous avalanche that breaks near the ground bringing the entire season's snowpack down on top of you. The most dangerous slopes face northwest through north to southeast, near and above treeline where recent winds loaded additional snow. You can trigger an avalanche from a distance so be aware of steep slopes above you. If you are traveling on aspects of concern, stick to low-angle slopes without any steep slopes overhead to reduce your chances of being caught in an avalanche.
