Kernpunkte

The general avalanche hazard is Moderate. Snow received earlier in the week lies in the form of soft slabs in avalanche terrain. Skiers and snowmobilers venturing onto steep avalanche starting zones have the potential to trigger these slabs to depths of up two feet. Evaluate snow and terrain carefully, identify and avoid features of concern.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Increasing clouds may deliver periods of light snow tonight and Saturday with little accumulation expected. Temperatures at all elevations are to rise from near ten below zero in the morning to the single digits during the afternoon. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate throughout western Wyoming on New Years Day. On steep wind loaded slopes at the higher elevations in the Teton and Southwest Trails areas the chance continues for snowmobilers and skiers to trigger soft slabs to depths of two feet. Slab depths in the Togwotee pass area could have depths to eighteen inches.
