Kernpunkte

Although the snow is starting to accumulate at Newberry Monument, it is unlikely that there is enough snow for good off-trail travel or for substantial avalanche activity.  If you were to hunt out pockets of wind blown snow, you could likely find some unstable snow, but these pockets are so small and isolated that avalanches are unlikely.

    It is likely that the latest snow from Friday morning has been blown onto East slopes at the higher elevations.  Immediately below ridge tops travelers might see cracking or small slab releases.  Despite this, the avalanche danger for Saturday is Low because there isn't enough snow to provide much riding off the trail.  The likelihood of finding good riding on a steep slope, along with significant avalanche potential, is pretty low.  It is worth considering Wind Slabs if you are traveling in freshly wind blown snow because even a small avalanche could hurt at this time of year when there are lots of rocks and trees poking through the snow.
