Avalanche Activity

Avoid terrain under sliding snow cracks

The avalanche danger is low. The main problem is the sliding snow on slopes with exposures from east to south to west. Small sliding snow avalanches can occur spontaneously up to the summits.

Snowpack Structure

The snow surface is often loose and angular on the shaded side. Only at high altitudes can isolated angular weak layers be seen within the snowpack. On the sunny side, the snow cover has settled a long way up and may have hardened in the morning.

Weather Forecast

On Tuesday, the sun will mostly shine with good visibility. A moderately strong to brisk southerly wind will initially blow in the high altitudes of the Tauern, easing in the morning, then the wind will be mostly weak to moderately strong everywhere. At 2000 metres the temperature will be around 0 degrees Celsius, at 3000 metres around -7 degrees Celsius.

Tendency

Little change.
