Low risk of isolated wet snow avalanches

The avalanche risk is low. In exceptional cases, small snow slabs can still be triggered in the entrance areas of steep gullies on shady slopes with a large additional load. The risk of being swept away and falling on icy, possibly thinly snow-covered surfaces generally outweighs the risk of burial.

Low and sunny mid-altitude areas are snowed out. Where present, the snowpack is moist to wet and well-set right up to the summit areas. Due to the many clouds, the snow surface can hardly outgoing longwave radiation overnight and no stable melt-freeze crust forms. In the higher areas on shady slopes, there are still weak layers of large faceted crystals in the lower part of the snowpack, especially near the ground.

The night begins mostly starry, with more clouds gathering from the south in Lungau. In the second half of the night, more clouds will generally gather from the west. On Saturday, high cloud fields will pass through, shading out the sunshine at times. The southerly wind will blow in Lungau with gusts of up to 50 km/h, in the north it will be much weaker. Towards the evening, unproductive precipitation will set in. Temperatures at 2000 m between -2 and +1 degrees, at 3000 m around -7 degrees. Away from the immediate main Alpine ridge, the night begins with clear skies, but in the second half of the night there will be increasing cloud cover from the west. Foehn-like mountain weather then sets in on Saturday. High cloud fields move over the peaks, occasionally shading out the sunshine. Along the Hohe Tauern and Lungauer Nockberge, low clouds will also accumulate from the south and restrict visibility. The southerly wind will blow strongly in the high areas of the Tauern, with gusts of up to 80 km/h, and further north with gusts of around 60 km/h. Towards the evening, unproductive precipitation will set in. Temperatures at 2000 m from south to north between -3 and +2 degrees, at 3000 m between -7 and -4 degrees.

The southerly foehn subsides and it snows unproductively. The avalanche danger does not change significantly.
