Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Any new snow will be insignificant with the majority of the snow cover remaining soft but generally well bonded. However, in the afternoon wet snow instabilities may develop on the steepest terrain mostly on North-West through North-East to East aspects above 900 metres. Older snow will remain firm and well bonded. Cornice and icefall collapse will remain a hazard. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will drop to around 800 metres before rising above the summits. A mix of precipitation, light snow around dawn before rain at all levels during the day. Strong winds, mostly South-South-West but backing South at end of day. Observed Weather Influences: Cloudy on the hills with light rain during the morning but clearing in the afternoon with temperatures around +3 degrees at 900 metres. Strong winds throughout, South to South-South-West. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of soft, wet but generally well bonded snow are found mostly in wind sheltered locations on North-West through North-East to East aspects above 900 metres. Old snow remains very firm and often icy. Stability of remaining cornices and ice-fall is suspect. The avalanche hazard is Low.
