Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of wet loose snow avalanches being released will increase in all aspects. The wind slabs of the last few days must be evaluated with care and prudence.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In particular on sunny slopes wet loose snow avalanches are possible. Individual gliding avalanches can also occur. In all aspects large and, in isolated cases, very large avalanches are possible. Avalanches can be released by a single winter sport participant.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of new snow and wind, wind slabs formed. They must be evaluated with care and prudence. Wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. The weather conditions will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack. Weak layers exist in the snowpack.

Tendency

Over a wide area continuous warming.
