Avalanche Activity

Over a wide area continuous warming to the high Alpine regions. Backcountry tours should be concluded early.

As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of natural moist avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on steep sunny slopes. Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible. The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads,. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas.

Snowpack Structure

Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to significant moistening of the snowpack. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. Below approximately 1500 m only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

Warming above the tree line.
