The wind slabs can be released in some cases above approximately 2400 m. They are to be avoided in particular in terrain where there is a danger of falling,, in isolated cases also in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In some regions 5 to 10 cm of snow, but less in some localities, will fall.

The snowpack is faceted. The sometimes strong wind has transported the old snow. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In all regions as well as in all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

The weather conditions will foster a gradual strengthening of the snow drift accumulations.
