Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation individual mostly small moist snow slides and avalanches are possible.

The fresh snow and the wind slabs can be released in isolated cases. This applies even in case of a single winter sport participant in some cases. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in all aspects at elevated altitudes and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls.

Snowpack Structure

The moderate wind has transported the new snow. The wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at elevated altitudes. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day.
