Forecast Snow Stability: While continuing to thaw the snow pack will remain well consolidated and generally stable on all aspects. There will be some re-freezing of the snow pack later in the period as the freezing levels lowers to around 800 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong South-South-East winds at first turning South overnight then returning to become very strong South-South-East later. There will be some rain showers overnight with brief light snow showers on the higher tops. It will then be mainly dry for the remainder of the period. The freezing level will be around 1000 rising to 1500 metres overnight then lowering to around 800 metres by mid day. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a dry but dull morning, there were some brief brighter spells. Winds were gale force West-South-West. The freezing level was around summit levels and rising. ObservedSnowStability: The snow pack is thawing and wet, generally consolidated and stable. Some lingering isolated wet snow instabilities remaining on very steep terrain mainly on North and East aspects above 950 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
