Forecast Snow Stability: At first wet snow instabilities will be present on steep terrain on North-West to North aspects above 800 metres. Features most affected will be steep terrain such as gully tops and coire rims. As the freezing level lowers, the snowpack will gradually start to consolidate. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Initial light amounts of snowfall will be confined to the highest summits before lowering to 500 metres tomorrow morning. Strong Southerly winds will veer, becoming South-Westerly. Freezing level, above the summits overnight will lower to 500 metres during the day. Observed Weather Influences: A wet day with snow initially down to 650 metres before rising to 1000 metres in the afternoon. Winds remained strong from the South. The freezing level rose to 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Moderately bonded snow is lying on the existing stable snowpack. Surface wet snow instabilities are present on steep wind sheltered locations on West, North-West and North aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
