Kernpunkte

Dry loose snow in steep terrain (>35 degrees) is likely to run fast and far.  Loose snow sluffs will be easiest to trigger around rocks and trees.  Use caution when traveling in extreme terrain and be mindful that even a small dry loose avalanche could carry you into gullies, trees, rocks, or over cliffs.

Cold temperatures and light density snow will result in dry loose avalanches on slopes > 35 degrees.  These avalanches by themselves are not likely to bury a person but could push you into undesirable terrain.  This avalanche problem will be found on all aspects and elevations near and above the treeline.  If you observe small "fan-like" point releases from rocks and trees, this is a good sign the surface snow lacks strength and you could easily trigger a dry loose avalanche in similar terrain.
