The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. The hard wind slabs of recent weeks can be released in isolated cases, but mostly only by large additional loads, on northeast to north to northwest facing aspects above approximately 3000 m.
The old snowpack will be generally well bonded. Weak layers exist in the top section of the old snowpack especially on very steep shady slopes.
