The Sun has been out the last few days, and with the warmer temperatures, it has been doing a good job of producing rollerballs and wet-loose natural avalanches within the upper 6 inches of the snowpack. Crusts have formed on aspects that face the Sun, but Northerly terrain stayed cool and soft.
Yesterday, we were able to get the surface snow to move with ski cuts by 10 am on an East aspect. If you are seeing rollerballs and point releases, slide over to another aspect that is not getting heated up by the Sun. South, Southwest, and West aspects are going to be most hazardous in the afternoon.
