Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of unstable windslab will build throughout the period, gaining depth and extent in steep sheltered locations. Terrain most affected will be coire rims, ridge flanks and in gullies, mainly on North-East to South-East aspects above 650 metres. North and South aspects will be affected due to cross loading. Exposed windward terrain will be scoured. The patches of old snow will be refrozen and firm. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be frequent and squally wintry showers with snow lying at low levels and a strong Westerly airflow throughout the period. The freezing level will lower to around 200 metres in the evening, remaining there or lower overnight and through the day. Observed Weather Influences: Frequent and blustery showers of light rain at all elevations through the morning, intensified in the early afternoon. The Strong South-West wind strengthened during the morning, with severe gales at summit levels later. The freezing level was well above the summits for most of the day. ObservedSnowStability: Most hills and mountains are bare of snow. Small remnant patches and slivers of thawing, well bonded old snow linger around the highest summits. The avalanche hazard is Low.
