The mostly small wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases. These avalanche prone locations are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. They are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular in terrain where there is a danger of falling. These places are easy to recognise. On very steep sunny slopes and in steep rocky terrain the likelihood of avalanches will increase during the day. In particular transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are unfavourable. As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase gradually, especially on very steep sunny slopes, and at the base of rock walls below approximately 2900 m.
Less snow than usual is lying, especially on steep southeast, south and southwest facing slopes below approximately 2600 m. The hard wind slabs are lying on soft layers in all aspects. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack. The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day, in particular on very steep sunny slopes below approximately 3200 m.
Continuous warming. These conditions will foster a slight rise in the danger of moist avalanches as the day progresses in particular on very steep sunny slopes.
