Avalanche Activity

The wind will be moderate to strong. In some localities light snowfall at intermediate altitudes. Large quantities of fresh snow and the wind-drifted snow of the last two days can be released easily or naturally above the tree line.

Mostly the avalanches are medium-sized. Very isolated large natural avalanches are, however, further possible. The avalanche prone locations are to be found at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Backcountry touring calls for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and a certain restraint.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow and wind slabs remain in some cases prone to triggering. The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The fresh wind slabs are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility.

Tendency

Slight warming.
