Monday's sun will heat up the cold, dry new snow resulting in wet avalanches. These avalanches can be hard to escape. Watch for rollerballing and pinwheeling in the surface snow and avoid steep slopes where you see this happening.

You can also trigger avalanches in dry, recently drifted snow on easterly-facing slopes near ridgetop. Shooting cracks or hollow, drum-like-sounding snow are indications that you have found slabs of drifted snow. These avalanches will most likely be small, but they can dangerous if you are taken off of your feet in very steep terrain.
