Areas of unstable snow exist on steep slopes at the mid and upper elevations. Triggering dense, surface slides 12 inches to 2 feet in depth, will be possible today on a variety of aspects. Most reported avalanches are running on an easily detectable, buried sun crust/surface hoar combination on northeast to south facing aspects, with some also on north facing slopes.

Light snow with little accumulation is expected overnight and through the day on Thursday. Temperatures are to rise into the low twenties and winds are to be light. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be:Moderate in the Teton area where pockets of human triggered dense surface slabs to three feet are possible in steep terrain.Moderate in the Togwotee Pass area where pockets of hard slabs to the ground are possible in very steep terrain.Considerable in Southwest Trails/Greys River area where surface slabs to two feet and dangerous hard slabs to the ground are possible in steep terrain.
