Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The general avalanche hazard is LOW. At higher elevations six inches of new, light snow and winds have developed isolated pockets of easily triggered soft slabs to ten inches in depth. The new snow rests on slick sun crusts and, once triggered, slopes will rapidly slough off. At all elevations, just below the new snow, are strong, stable crusts that have evolved through several melt-freeze cycles.

The snowpack is mostly stable with hard crusts on all aspects except some isolated, north facing areas at upper elevations. Periods of sunshine and warming temperatures could make wet-loose slides possible at lower elevations in steep pockets that have not yet slid. The heavier snowfall and stronger winds could potentially increase the avalanche hazard in the Wyoming/Greys River areas.
