Kernpunkte

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Dense surface slabs to depths of two feet could be triggered in steep wind loaded terrain above 9000 feet. As sunlight and warm temperatures weaken the snow surface these slabs will increase in sensitivity today and the possibility for wet slides will develop at all elevations.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A high pressure ridge is to affect the area through Friday. West winds are to decrease to averages between fifteen and twenty miles per hour by morning. Skies are to be partly cloudy and temperatures are to rise into the mid to upper thirties.During the morning, the general avalanche hazard will be Moderate above 9000 feet where pockets of slab to two feet lie, and Low below 9000 feet. The hazard will increase in the afternoon as sunlight and increasing temperatures weaken the surface of the snowpack, providing for the chance of wet loose activity at all elevations as well as making the dense slabs that lie at high elevations more sensitive.
