Avalanche Activity

The prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses.

The wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular at the base of rock walls, and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The wind slabs can still be released. This applies in particular in case of a large load. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls. As a consequence of warming moist and wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses. The avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack. Backcountry tours should be started and concluded early.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack's surface remains generally characterized by alternating eroded areas interspersed with deposited zones; in many areas, hard surface crusts are present, locally hidden. Near the crests, evident cornices remain in many places. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack.

Tendency

The weather will be partly cloudy. Continuous warming. The weather conditions will give rise to gradual and thorough wetting of the snowpack.
