Avalanche Activity

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2300 m.

Mostly the avalanches are shallow but can be released in some cases by a single winter sport participant, in particular on very steep slopes. The avalanches can be triggered in the faceted old snow and reach medium size in isolated cases. Several mostly small avalanches are possible as a consequence of the moist air.

Snowpack Structure

2 to 5 cm of snow has fallen since Saturday above approximately 2200 m. 2 to 10 cm of snow, but less in some localities, will fall on Tuesday above approximately 2000 m. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack on shady slopes. The weather conditions gave rise to moistening of the snowpack especially at low and intermediate altitudes. At intermediate and high altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The numerous rocks hidden by the recent snow are the main danger.

Tendency

Little snow will fall on Wednesday.
