Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will develop on North through East to South-East aspects above 750 metres. Areas most affected will be wind sheltered locations, where accumulations have gained depth, especially steep convex terrain, such as coire rims, gully tops and ridge flanks. Other aspects may be affected due to cross loading, and at lower elevations in steep banks. Elsewhere the snowpack will be mainly firm, well consolidated and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: West-South-West storm force winds will veer West in the early hours, remaining storm force for the rest of the period. Snowfall is expected overnight, then showery throughout the day. The freezing level will drop to 500m overnight, then rise steadily to reach around 750m by the end of the forecasting period.

Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with storm force South-Westerly winds. The summit midday temperature was minus 2. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is firm, well consolidated and stable in all locations. Greatest amounts of snow are on coire headwalls and plateau areas, on North to South-East aspects above 900m. The avalanche hazard is Low.
