The fresh snow and the wind slabs represent the main danger.
The wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack. The fresh snow and the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases in all aspects. On steep slopes small to medium-sized avalanches are possible as a consequence of new snow and strong wind.
Snowpack Structure
Over a wide area new snow and wind slabs are lying on an icy crust. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded poorly with each other and the old snowpack.
