Increasing temperatures and sunlight will increase the hazard as the day progresses. At the upper elevations pockets of slab up to 30 inches deep persist in steep avalanche starting zones. The potential for humans to trigger these slabs will increase during the day. Cornice drops and shallow wet slides are possible in steep cliff areas. The snowpack is mostly stable at the mid and lower elevations however wet slides are possible on very steep slopes and road cuts.

Mostly clear skies overnight should allow wet snow surfaces to harden by morning. On Wednesday clouds will be on the increase as a new storm system moves in from the west. Convective snow showers are expected to develop in the afternoon. Periods of heavy snowfall likely overnight. Temperatures will drop into the 20s tonight and rise in to the 30s in the mountains and into the 40s in the valleys during the day. Light winds will back to the south during the day and strengthen and veer to the west during the storm.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the upper elevations (9,000 to 10,500 feet) where pockets of slab up to 30 inches persist in steep, wind loaded avalanche starting zones. The sensitivity of these slabs to human triggers will increase as the day warms. Mostly stable snow exists below an elevation of 9,000 feet where the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW.
