The general avalanche hazard is LOW. The early season snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely except on very steep slopes above 9,000 feet where drifted snow lies upon crusty old snow surfaces. In these areas, backcountry travelers might be able to trigger an isolated pocket of wind slab 6 to 12 inches in depth. Slopes are bare below 7,500 feet.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Expect mostly cloudy skies on Friday along with a chance of light, scattered snow showers. Overnight lows in the mountains will be around 10 degrees before rising to near 20 during the day. Ridgetop winds will be out of the west to northwest at 15 to 25 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Friday. Mostly stable snow exists and avalanches are unlikely except in very steep avalanche starting zones above 9,000 feet where west to northwest winds may begin to form isolated pockets of shallow wind slab.
