Kernpunkte

At the mid and upper elevations soft surface slabs up to two feet in depth lie upon weak layers of buried surface hoar and slick old snow surfaces. On Wednesday a three foot deep slab released naturally on a steep cliff face southeast of Housetop Mountain and an 18 inch deep slab released naturally in Four Shadows on Cody Peak in the southern Tetons. In addition weak layers of faceted snow persist deep in the snowpack and near the ground. Surface slabs could be human triggered today on steep wind loaded aspects and in cliff areas and have the potential to step down to deeper older layers. At the lower elevations avalanches are unlikely.
