The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in extremely steep terrain at high altitude.
As a consequence of solar radiation natural avalanches are possible as the day progresses, even medium-sized ones, especially on steep grassy slopes above the tree line. Avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on steep west, north and east facing slopes at high altitude. The various wind slabs have bonded quite well already with the old snowpack. The avalanche prone locations are clearly recognisable to the trained eye.
The snowpack remains in most cases subject to considerable local variations. The various wind slabs have bonded quite well already with the old snowpack. The rain gave rise to thorough wetting of the snowpack over a wide area below approximately 1900 m. Over a wide area new snow is lying on a wet snowpack.
