Wind slabs continue to build with light to moderate winds blowing incremental additions of snow that add more fuel for wind transport. Mt. Hood Pro Patrol reported that winds were transporting snow, but slabs were small and not very reactive on Thursday. With additional snowfall and continued light to moderate winds, we expect wind slabs will be growing and becoming more reactive by Friday. New wind slabs will be largest above treeline on lee slopes but will build near treeline. As of Wednesday afternoon, reports indicated new snow was bonding well to the old surface, but only shallow snow had accumulated. Wind slabs may be more sensitive where overlying weak faceted snow. Feeling for firm or hollow sounding snow as a sign that wind slabs may be present. You can stay safe by traveling on ridges, wind-scoured areas and slopes less than 35 degrees.
