Avalanche Activity

Moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming.

The high temperatures from the late morning will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack in all aspects in particular at intermediate and high altitudes. These conditions will bring about a gradual weakening of the snowpack as the day progresses. Above approximately 2200 m mostly small moist and wet avalanches are possible. In these regions less snow than usual is lying. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will soften quickly. On sunny slopes as well as at low and intermediate altitudes hardly any snow is lying.

Tendency

As a consequence of warming the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent as the day progresses.
