Current Snowpack Conditions

The snowpack is generally well-settled. The last storm snow has settled and bonded well. Strong southerly winds may have transported very small amounts of snow to north facing aspects The snow on sunny aspects may be sensitive to the sun.

Mountain Weather

Fine with clouds developing later with the odd shower falling as snow above 2000m. Wind moderate south westerlies. Freezing level lowering from 2000m to 1700m by Thursday evening.

Sliding Danger

The snow will be hard in places, especially in the morning. An ice axe and crampons will need to be carried for mountain travel.

Forecast Confidence

High

  • We are confident due to a stable weather pattern.
  • We are uncertain about how the timing or intensity of solar radiation will affect the snowpack.
