Update April 17: 3-4 inches of new snow has fallen since yesterday evening accompanied by moderate southwest winds. This shouldn't increase the avalanche danger much but you may encounter some shallow fresh slabs of wind drifted snow along the leeward sides of upper elevation ridge crests. We're likely to see a few more inches by tomorrow. Suspect slopes that have more than about 8 inches of recently deposited wind drifted snow.

We're through issuing regular avalanche forecasts for the season but we'll post condition updates as warranted through the month. We will also continue to post recent observations.

Road construction is occurring on the south end of the La Sal Loop Road and it will be closed from 8:30-5:30 Monday through Friday above Pack Creek.

The base of a low pressure trough and associated cold front is moving through the Four Corners this morning. Snowfall in the mountains began around 8:00 p.m. last night and we picked up 3-4 inches. A chance for picking up a few more inches remains through the day with afternoon convection providing the best opportunity. Moderate southwest winds today will shift to northwesterly by this evening. High temps at 10,000' will be in the upper 20's. Look for clearing skies on Saturday as the system moves on. Breezy northwest winds will continue in its wake.
