Isolated danger zones for wet-snow avalanches

Avalanche danger is low. In isolated cases, small glide-snow or wet-snow avalanches can release in steep terrain which has not yet discharged or it can be triggered by persons.

On sunny slopes, the ground is becoming bare. What little snow there is, is moist-to-wet (0-degree isotherm) and often forms a crust capable of bearing loads after a night of clear skies. Daytime warming and solar radiation soften the crust and make it forfeit its firmness.

On Wednesday during the course of the day, moderate-strength S/SE winds will arise in high altitude terrain. Near the Niedere Tauern and Lungau Nockberge dense clouds from the south will accumulate, a bit of rainfall is expected, snowfall above 2500m. Near the Hohe Tauern and Northern Alps, clouds will disperse somewhat, convective cloud build-up is expected in the afternoon hours, some rain showers and thunderstorms can result from them. At 2000m: +3 to +7 degrees; at 3000m: -1 degree. Skies on Wednesday night will be variably cloudy, some rainfall and snowfall are possible, snowfall level dropping slowly to 2000m.
