New snow is falling on an early season snowpack that is mostly stable. A chance exists to trigger small, isolated pockets of slab in very steep cliff areas or extreme terrain. Be aware of the hazards associated with low snow depths.

Avalanche Discussion

A Pacific cold front and trough will bring snow to the area Wednesday afternoon. The heaviest snowfall is to occur between 3 pm and 11 pm. Temperatures are to reach near twenty degrees and southwest winds are to have averages below fifteen miles per hour. At the upper elevations, snowfall amounts of four to six inches are possible by early Thursday. The general avalanche danger will be Low on Wednesday. The snowpack is mostly stable and avalanche activity is unlikely except for in small, isolated pockets in extreme terrain such as cliff areas.
