Forecast Snow Stability: During the day localised accumulations of unstable windslab will develop on Northerly to Easterly aspects above 1000 metres. These will be mostly confined to steep, wind sheltered locations, such as below coire rims, gully exits and crag aprons. Elsewhere the snowpack will be firm, well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Dry and clear overnight, light snowfall during the day. Light South-Westerly winds, increasing through the night, strong to gale force during the day, veering West-South-Westerly in direction during the afternoon. The freezing level will rise from 700 to 1000 metres before falling to 800 metres at the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: A mostly dry morning with some light snow showers through the afternoon. Winds were light West-North-Westerly in direction. The midday freezing level was at 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: There has been shallow covering of new snow above 900 metres on all aspects. Shallow accumulations of stable windslab have developed on steep and convex North-West to North-East aspects above 1000 metres. Elsewhere the old snowpack has a firm crust and is well bonded and stable throughout. The avalanche hazard is Low.
