Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of fresh unstable windslab will develop above 900 metres in wind-sheltered locations. South-East to South-West aspects will be most affected. The snowpack on windward aspects will be firm, icy and stable. Below 900 metres stability will be better. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.
Forecast Weather Influences: Westerly winds will veer Northerly overnight, remain from the North and strengthen during the day. There will be snow showers overnight and through the day. The freezing level will be around 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A cloudy day with some showers which fell as snow above about 900 metres and a freezing level of around 1100 metres. Gale force winds from the South. ObservedSnowStability: Above 900 metres there are some deposits of fresh windslab on mainly North-West to North-East aspects. This windslab contains some surface instabilities. However, the areas of windslab tend not to be extensive and are generally avoidable. On windward aspects the snowpack is scoured and stable. Below 900 metres the wet snowpack is slowly thawing and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
