Avalanche Activity

The new snow of the last few days is poorly bonded with the old snowpack. This snow can be released easily or naturally in particular on steep shady slopes. Small to medium-sized avalanches have been released by people above approximately 1800 m. Natural avalanches are possible in particular on wind-loaded slopes. In addition in particular on south, southeast and southwest facing slopes, individual natural moist avalanches are possible. Released avalanches and field observations have confirmed this situation. On steep sunny slopes and at the base of rock walls moist avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming. Caution is to be exercised on very steep shady slopes, as well as in gullies and bowls. Dolomites: Above approximately 1500 m the avalanche danger is considerable (level 3). In particular steep slopes and above approximately 1500 m: In the Prealps a moderate avalanche danger will prevail.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow of last week has settled to a large extent on steep sunny slopes. This snow is poorly bonded on shady slopes.
