20 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall above approximately 2000 m. The new snow is bonding poorly with the old snowpack in many places. The fresh and older wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases on steep shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. The avalanche prone locations are covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise. In particular on steep shady slopes avalanches can be released in the old snow and reach large size. This applies in particular at intermediate and high altitudes. Backcountry touring calls for careful route selection.

Above approximately 1000 m snow will fall. In particular low and intermediate altitudes, steep sunny slopes: The new snow is lying on top of a quite favourable old snowpack. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Over a wide area new snow is lying on the soft surface of an old snowpack.
